Solan district is known as the " Gateway of Himachal Pradesh.
The total geographical area of the district is 1936 Sq. Kms. And
the population is 4,99,380 as per 2001 census. The topography
of the district is mountainous with elevation ranging from 300
meters to 300 meters above mean sea level. The economy of the
district mainly depends on the agriculture and horticulture while
industrial activity is also growing at an encouraging pace giving
it a place of pride as most developed industrial district of the
state. Mushroom Cultivation has also come up in a big way in the
district. Solan is known as the " Mushroom City of India"
